Coming hot on the heels of recent European success, Shoothill, the Shropshire-based software development and data specialists, are delighted to announce that they have now been shortlisted as finalists in the GeoSpatial World Excellence Awards.
With competition coming from IT companies across the world, this shortlisting recognises Shoothill’s capabilities in producing innovative applications, based, in this instance, on government data via the Environment Agency, and making them available to the general public free of charge.
The shortlisting was given to Shoothill for FloodAlerts, the unique online flood warning service that takes real-time data from the Environment Agency and displays it on an interactive map, updating and warning its users when they, their premises or the routes they need to travel could be at risk of flooding.
Shoothill Managing Director, Rod Plummer, said: “This is fantastic news and is the latest in a long line of awards and nominations we have received for FloodAlerts since it was originally launched less than a year ago. All credit goes to the team at Shoothill for their continued hard work and dedication.”
The final award winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in Rotterdam in May 2013.
