The War Horse Journey

DreamWorks Pictures’ “War Horse,” director Steven Spielberg’s epic adventure, is a tale of loyalty, hope and tenacity set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War.
To coincide with the release of “War Horse”, Shoothill re-created Joey’s journey within a unique TimeMap experience for MSN USA. Focusing on the time spent on the Western Front, the TimeMap uses historically accurate First World War Trench maps covering Northern France and Belgium.
The maps have been accurately placed over the existing landscape so users can see the actual trenches that were dug between 1914 and 1918. Using the TimeScope, users can still see clearly the scars of the conflict left on the modern landscape by the trenches and the battles that took place nearly a century ago.
Working closely with MSN and DreamWorks, Shoothill also created a ‘Deep Zoom Gallery’ that features images from the filming of Steven Spielberg’s epic adventure and historic photos of real War Horses in the First World War, providing an insight in to how horses were essential on the Western Front. The Gallery also contains extracts from the War Diaries that Calvary Officers were asked to keep during the First World War and how they took outstanding care of their magnificent creatures.
